Batt Insulation Done Right — Not Just Stuffed In

Batt insulation has a bad reputation in Florida, and most of the time it isn't the material's fault — it's the installation. Batts that are compressed behind wiring, cut short at the top plate, or left with gaps around electrical boxes can lose a substantial share of their rated R-value before the drywall ever goes up.

Installed properly, batts are a genuinely cost-effective way to hit your target R-value. They're a strong fit for interior walls, floor assemblies over unconditioned space, sound control between rooms, and any project where the air barrier is already handled by another part of the assembly.

Where batts fall short in Southwest Florida is air sealing. Fiberglass slows heat transfer but does nothing to stop humid outside air from moving through the assembly. That's why we'll often recommend batts for interior applications and spray foam for the building envelope — or a hybrid that uses both where each performs best.
