Rigid Foam Board
Rigid Foam Board Insulation in Naples, FL
EPS, XPS, and polyiso panels installed as true continuous insulation — covering the framing and block that cavity insulation leaves exposed.
Thermal Bridging: The R-Value You Paid For but Never Got
Cavity insulation stops at the framing. Every stud, furring strip, and block web between those cavities becomes a thermal bridge — a direct conductive path carrying heat through your wall no matter how well the cavities themselves are insulated.
This matters more in Naples than in most of the country, because the overwhelming majority of homes here are concrete block. Concrete is an efficient conductor, and a block wall insulated only between furring strips can perform well below the R-value printed on the insulation package.
Rigid foam board fixes this by running continuously across the entire assembly. Nothing interrupts it — no studs, no strips, no block webs. The result is a wall or roof that performs much closer to its rated R-value, which is exactly what continuous insulation requirements in modern energy codes are designed to achieve.

Rigid Board Types We Install
EPS & XPS Board
Durable polystyrene panels with strong compressive strength and low water absorption. The standard choice for below-grade applications, under slabs, and anywhere the board may face ground contact or sustained load.
- ✓ Best for: Slabs, below grade, foundations
- ✓ R-value: ~R-3.6–5.0/inch
- ✓ High compressive strength
Polyiso Board
Highest RThe highest R-value per inch of any common board product, typically foil-faced so it adds a radiant barrier when installed facing an air space. The usual specification for roof decks and walls where thickness is limited.
- ✓ Best for: Roof decks, tight wall cavities
- ✓ R-value: ~R-5.6–6.5/inch
- ✓ Foil facing adds radiant benefit
Rigid board pairs especially well with closed-cell spray foam — foam seals the cavities and penetrations, board covers the framing.
